Finally Free

freedom-clipart-escapeWell another year has passed and the semester has come to an end! Congratulations everyone on making it through another semester. Finals are the worst part of every year, and even if you don’t ace your exam, grades are NOT all that matter. Jobs and grad schools look at your extracurricular activities and work experience. So don’t worry if you didn’t do as well as you wanted to on an exam.

What to do this Summer?

empThis is the last week of final exams (hallelujah!) which means that it is basically summer – well not officially, but you know what I mean. It’s time to drop the books, and make plans for the next four months. But what should you do?

Registration Time

classWe are just about to hit the month of April which means many things. Courses are ending, assignments are due, finals are beginning, and course registration will be opening up soon. For many it may also mean that they will be graduating within the next few months. The amount of stress that occurs during this period can be overwhelming, but it is also important to make sure everything gets done.

My Alternative Spring Break

imagesWell the reading break has passed, and it is time to get back in the school routine. I hope that you all had a good break regardless of what you did or where you went. I, myself, spent it doing something quite different – something I had never done at all. I took part in McGill’s Alternative Spring Break.

Time to Apply!

applyDid you ever think back to your welcome week at McGill and think that you would gain a lot of experience if you got to help out with it the next year? Well wait no longer, applications have now opened for all of the welcome events taking place in the summer.

I honestly wish I would have done this in my first year at McGill, as it would have made my life a lot simpler, but I can’t go back in time unfortunately. It’s now time for me to get serious and start preparing myself for my future.

Thinking Ahead

grad

I remember one of my very first blog entries was on stress and how to cope with it; yet here I find myself, 4 weeks into the semester, stressed out. Quite ironic isn’t it?

To Research or Not?

pavlovWhen I first started at McGill I had no intentions of ever wanting to do anything whatsoever involving research. I always had this mental image (or as psychologists like to say “schema”) of what research involved. Sitting in a lab, in front of a computer, just collecting and inputting data. I never stopped to think of all the other stuff which are involved with doing studies.

Snowy Days, Relaxing Days

winterWell it may be four days late for Christmas, but the snow has finally arrived for winter. I myself do not enjoy winter all the much (I dislike the cold as well), but having been born and raised here I’ve grown someone used to it. Truth? You can never get used to -30 degree temperatures no matter how long you’ve lived here. If you’re like me and spending your two weeks off in Montreal, here are some fun things you can try out rather spending your time inside hibernating.

‘Tis the Season for Research

research-tablet3It may only be two days before Christmas but at least we made it through the end of the semester! I can’t actually believe how overwhelmed I was at the end, especially during finals week. Balancing my lab, school work, and my job was a lot harder than I imagined but I think I made it through everything well.
