Conference? What’s that?

Conferences? What are those? I’m not referring to the conferences that are added to your VSB when you try to configure the best possible schedule at the start of the semester. I’m talking about CDE, or the annual Conference on Diversity in Engineering.

Every year, the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students (CFES) hosts several events. CDE provides invaluable knowledge on a multitude of issues, including indigenous perspectives in STEM, women engineers of colour, and rape culture. In fact, McGill hosted the 2016 CDE a year ago…

Search a job position fast…ER!

Google_searchFast… It’s the word that best describes search engines.

Let’s say that you need a job as soon as possible. What are you going to do? Hum, I am looking for a Marketing Coordinator position within the Montreal area = 199,000 results. Do you really have enough time banked on your “free-time” account to click on every single link?

Well, as for one, don’t have that kind of time. But I still would like to find a position.

Travel Diaries: SPAIN, a business trip.

Santander, SpainI was filling out a declaration form and I was so excited about the fact that for the first time the purpose of my trip was ‘business.’  I ended up skipping my introductory macroeconomics class to present my research paper at the World Economy Meeting in Santander, Spain.  Ironic, eh?  (I have actually taken upper-level economics courses, but I needed to take specifically ECON 209 as a prerequisite for a grad school course).  As for the World Economy Meeting, it was my first time presenting at an international academic conference.  It was also my first time in Spain.  Read on to find out what I have learned, how I would enhance my experience at any future academic conference, and the culture shocks that I have experienced.
