CAMBAM fellowship competition

MPrime ( has generously awarded $100,000 to CAMBAM for
the support of research fellowships (graduate, postdoctoral and undergraduate),
industrial internships and travel awards.

Funding categories

  • Graduate research fellowships (MSc, PhD or PDF): $5,000
  • Undergraduate research fellowships: $2,000
  • Internships at a Canadian industrial partner: $7,000
  • Travel awards: up to $1,500

Funding period
April 1, 2012 through March 31, 2013

Funding details and eligibility
These funds will be used to support students engaged in the interdisciplinary application of mathematics to biology and medicine supervised (or co-supervised) by a CAMBAM member. Selection criteria will be based on the excellence of the trainee, overlap between the trainee’s research and CAMBAM’s mission, participation of the trainee and/or supervisor in CAMBAM sponsored events, and financial need (if any). The size and number of awards per category may change depending on the number of applicants. Graduate (11 awards) and undergraduate (4 awards) research fellowships: Can be used to offset the trainee’s stipend and must be matched by other funds (e.g., supervisor’s grant). The trainee should not hold another major fellowship (more than $10K). Internships (3 awards): Will be used to support the trainee (MSc, PhD or PDF) to work at a Canadian industrial (or government) partner during the funding period. No matching funds required. Travel awards (11 awards): Will support attendance at a summer school, scientific meeting to present his/her work (if possible) or other events related to the trainee’s research during the funding period. No matching funds required.

Students funded by this award will be expected to participate in all CAMBAM sponsored events and CAMBAM student events.
