 McGill is hiring a Communication and Outreach Coordinator! The role entails promoting and presenting a consistent image of Mcgill as a major institution of international caliber and fostering long-term relationships with alumni as well as internal/external constituencies. The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree and three years’ of related experience. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, proofreading ability and meticulous attention to detail.  English and French written and spoken is required. Great Part-Time Job Opportunity for PR students!

Éducaloi, a non-profit organization that explains the law to Quebecers in everyday language, is hiring a part time (10-14 hours/week)  Marketing and Communications Assistant!! Contract runs from December 2011 to the end of March 2012.

The job includes presenting the organization and its products via telephone and electronic communications, preparing mass mailing, drafting PR documents, and helping with media relations.  

You must be bilingual (oral), excellent written English, good written French, knowledge of basic direct marketing techniques, knowledge of media relations techniques and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.

And bonus, you get to work at Éducaloi’s offices which is in the beautiful Old Montreal 🙂

Great opp for French-language writer

Instructor Frédéric Boisrond, in his other life a CEO of not-for-profit organizations, writes with news of a good opportunity for a junior with good French writing skills and a good knowledge of English. The Comité d’adapatation de la main d’oeuvre, which has the interesting mandate of integrating immigrants into the Quebec workforce, is looking for a development and communications officer. Position at Optimum (PR wing of Cossette)

It’s a stretch for most students and recent grads, but it could happen: a position for an English-speaking consultant at Optimum Public Relations. The stretch? Position for person with experience

The Development Bank of Canada is looking for a temporary PR coordinator to work on events and media relations.  Requirements include 3-5 years’ experience including event management, and mastery of both English and French, written and spoken. Position in immigrant integration

Instructor Frédéric Boisvert reports a job opening at his organization (CAMO – Comité d’adaptation de la main d’oeuvre) for someone with a degree and a couple of years’ relevant experience. The person who takes on this six-month (possibly renewable) contract will put together a promotional and recruitment strategy to bring in immigrants and follow them through the process of getting official recognition of their competencies. Recent graduate Liana Casella has been hired by JK Communications.  She will be working as a PR/Marketing Coordinator and will also be involved in product development. Liana graduated in December 2010 from the Public Relations Certificate program.

ELAN Quebec: English Language Arts Network

Are you interested in the arts community in Quebec?  Are you an artist?  Do you want to do  work for arts based organizations?

If you have said yes to any of the preceding questions, then the English Language Arts Network of Quebec (ELAN Quebec) is an organization you should know about.

Created in 2005, ELAN Quebec is a multi-disciplinary community of over 8,500 artists and cultural workers in Quebec. As per the ELAN Quebec website, the organization aims to:

  • Provide support, services and networking opportunities to English-speaking artists of all disciplines in all regions of Quebec.
  • Promote the work of artists so they receive greater recognition and visibility.
  • Collaborate with sister organizations to coordinate and instigate support services, such as professional development and mentorship opportunities.
  • Build bridges between English-speaking and French-speaking communities.
  • Advocate on behalf of English-speaking artists and their community in critical areas such as funding and public broadcasting.
  • Promote arts and culture as a means to enrich education, develop the creative economy and serve as a motor for economic development.
