INTERNSHIP: Australian Football League of Quebec

aflAFL Quebec is the official body for the sport of Australian Football within the province of Quebec. “Footy” is a growing sport not only in Canada but all over the world. Since 2009, AFL Quebec has been organizing competitions, a league and raising awareness about the sport. At the moment AFL Quebec is composed of 4 men’s teams and 4 women’s teams.

Volunteer opportunity Media Center F1

Formula 1 Grand Prix is looking for volunteers for its media centre.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Media registration
  • Distribution of event related materials
  • Assist with press conferences
  • Ensure the proper functioning of the media centre
  • All other services in order to assist the media

Must be available from Tuesday June 2nd to Sunday June 7th

2) Table de Quartier Sud de l’Ouest de l’Île is a non-profit organization that mobilizes local community with the aim to improve the quality of life and to favour social development in the south of the West Island. Volunteer with F1 Grand Prix du Canada’s Media Centre

Laurie Schraenen (Diploma graduate 2013) is now National Press Officer for the 2014 Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada, and is recruiting volunteers for their Media Centre. This is a wonderful opportunity for students or recent grads to meet national and international media and to be at the heart of an international event.

Volunteer opportunity with Seize Your Future

Since 2005, the leadership development program Seize Your Future (SYF) inspires today’s young women to become tomorrow’s leaders. By taking part in the program, 15-17 year-old women hone their leadership and decision-making skills, as well as their social conscience, through:
–       Mentorship: the participants are paired with professional women who
wish to share their experience and knowledge;
–       Three intensive weekend seminars staggered over one school year;
–       Individual community projects developed and executed by the
–       Talks with current female leaders and networking opportunities.

Through the projects, SYF touches the lives of hundreds of individuals in many communities each year.
SYF is currently looking for students eager to get some hands on experience in their field by helping the organization implement its communication plan. We are looking for volunteers to assist with:
–       Content generation website and news letter;
–       Research ;
–       Media monitoring ;
–       Video editing ;
–       Social media;
–       Editing of various print material;
–       PR and media relations for events;
–       Design of marketing campaigns.

There is no minimum time commitment, except if your interest lies in media monitoring and social media, in which case you will have to commit to 2 hours a week (flexible schedule). Letters of recommendations will be provided to students who volunteer with us.

Volunteers Needed

As you know, McGill will be co-hosting two Montreal Municipal Debates featuring the candidates running for Mayor of Montreal

1) The debate on Wednesday October 9, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Redpath Hall with Radio-Canada, in French

2) The debate on Tuesday October 22nd, with CBC Montreal in English (more info to come in a future communication)

We need volunteers who speak French to help things run smoothly on October 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. or later depending on the task. Volunteers will help with ushering; working at the registration table; coat-check in case it rains, water-girl(boy);  general runner, etc.
