POSITION SUMMARY: The Post Doctoral Fellow will be affiliated with the Chronic Disease Management Research Group and contribute to the LINC project entitled ‘The Everyday Experience of Living with and Managing a Neurological Condition’. The research project is funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada until March 31, 2013. This Post Doctoral opportunity will commence on appointment and continue to the end of the project.
This LINC project seeks to understand the everyday lives of people with neurological conditions, who strive to work, go to school, raise families, and participate in the community. The support and resources that make everyday life possible and meaningful will be explored. Specifically, this research will describe:
The Post Doctoral Fellow will be co-supervised by Drs. Tanya Packer and Joan Versnel who are Co-Principal Investigators on this national project. The Post Doctoral Fellow will have an opportunity to work with all members of the inter-disciplinary team and to develop research skills through involvement in a large and multi-site project that includes a population study, a cohort study and a multiple perspective-case study. The Post Doctoral Fellow will also have the opportunity to further develop skills in qualitative and quantitative methods, contribute to grant and scholarly publications and to undertake independent research work.
Requirements: A completed PhD in a relevant area such as occupational therapy, nursing or other health profession, or other related field. Strong qualitative research experience and a willingness to contribute to the overall project is required. Ability to work in a team environment is also essential. Experience using NVIVO would be an asset.
