In a project, the Project Sponsor is the initiator and champion of the project. The Project Sponsor :

  • ensures project has resources and organizational commitment;
  • provides executive leadership and decision making;
  • provides support for the Project Manager;
  • assists with major issues, problems, and policy conflicts;
  • removes obstacles;
  • is active in planning the scope;
  • approves scope changes;
  • clarifies priorities when competing requests with scheduling conflict arise;
  • approve the strategies related to change management, communication and solution deployment;
  • chair the Project Steering Committee.
