Tokiko Okuma at ICL 19

Tokiko Okuma has just returned from the 19th International Congress of Linguists, held at the University of Geneva in Switzerland from July 21–27. She presented a paper in the SLA workshop, titled ”Second language acquisition of discourse and syntactic/semantic functions of pronouns.” She received a CRBLM graduate travel award for this trip.

Brian Buccola at Formal Grammar 18

Brian Buccola presented a paper, “On the Expressivity of Optimality Theory versus Ordered Rewrite Rules”, earlier this month at the 18th Conference on Formal Grammar, in Düsseldorf.  The paper, which will be published in an edited volume, is here.  Brian received an Arts Graduate Student Travel Award for this trip.

Ling-Tea – Jozina Vander Klok, 9/4

Jozina Vander Klok (McGill PhD ’12, current post-doc at UBC), will be presenting new work at this year’s first Ling-Tea of the semester.
